Here at BlueLineBJJ, our team has been working hard to make The 2019 charity jiujitsu seminar a success. As many of you know, we are sponsoring the 2019 seminar at Pedro Sauer’s Headquarters in Herndon, Virginia during the 2019 National Police Week Memorial in D.C.  Our goal is to make the seminar bigger and better than last year.

Last year we reached out to several industry partners to request items to auction off as part of our fundraising effort for C.O.P.S. in conjunction with the seminar. If you are not aware of the great things C.O.P.S. does for survivors of L.E. Line of Duty deaths please take some time to check them out. The 2018 event was a success and we are so grateful to all the companies that assisted us.

One company in particular that went above and beyond our expectations was Defense Soap. As a reply to my request of a soap package as an auction item, I received a reply directly from Defense Soap founder and owner, Guy Sako.  His response was, “I was a Cleveland Policeman for 25 years. We would be happy to help. What do you need?” From there Defense Soap donated multiple items for every participant of the seminar and items to be used during the seminar.

This year, with the logistics of travel to D.C. we are not planning on having a large charity auction like previous years, but Defense Soap still stepped up to give out items for participants.

Here is a little about Defense Soap to show what makes them stand out to us as a company we support and promote.  Guy Sako, the owner and founder was a Cleveland, OH Police Department officer from 1990-2015. As many of us do, he dedicated his time to night shift patrol in part because for the last 25 years he has been the head coach of the Westshore Wrestling Club in Lakewood, OH.  During his time as an officer he received the Medal of Heroism, several Distinguished Service Awards, and the Medal of Valor from the Ohio Attorney General.

In 2005, Guy started Defense Soap with the goal of eliminating ring worm in wrestling. Originally just making bars of soap for his athletes, but as demand for the natural product increased Defense Soap was started and continues to see increased success. It is currently sold on four different continents and works with multiple partners to include Proctor and Gamble.

The Title statement for Defense Soap is, “Defend what you have built.” As Law Enforcement professionals and also as athletes we can see the foundation in which this statement is written. The way Defense Soap stepped up to assist Law Enforcement, C.O.P.S. charities, and jiujitsu athletes continues to show the dedication to their mission.

Please check out https://www.defensesoap.com/, take a look at their products, and show support for a company that is doing it right.  Hope to see you all in D.C. this year.
